Minibus & Group Transfers
Matfield Minibus Airport Transfers
Group and family airport transfers from Matfield in one vehicle rather than two cars. Six to eight passengers, room for a case each, all five London airports, one fixed quote for the whole group.

Families
Two adults, two or three children, and the amount of luggage that comes with them. A saloon runs out of boot space long before it runs out of seats, and a family holiday is exactly where that happens.
Groups of friends
Six to eight people on the same flight. One vehicle, one fixed quote, everyone arriving together instead of splitting across two cars, two fares and two arrival times.
Heavy luggage trips
Four people with four large cases, golf clubs, ski bags or sports kit. Sometimes the minibus is about the boot rather than the seats.
How many passengers and bags fit in the minibus?
Matfield Airport Taxis runs minibuses for six to eight passengers with one case each plus hand luggage. Beyond that the vehicle fills, so tell us the exact passenger and bag count when you book. If the numbers are borderline we will say so rather than turning up short of space.
Group Transfers from Matfield
Matfield has no railway station, and that changes the arithmetic far more for groups than it does for solo travellers.
One person leaving the village can drive to Paddock Wood three miles away, park, and take a train. Eight people cannot. That becomes two cars to park for the duration of the trip, two sets of parking charges, eight train tickets, and a group trying to stay together through a change at London Bridge with luggage. The minibus exists for precisely this situation.
Most of our group bookings come from Matfield Green and the lanes running off the B2160, along with Brenchley, Petteridge, Paddock Wood, Five Oak Green and Kippings Cross. Groups assembling before an early flight often gather at one address rather than being collected from five — if the pickup points are close together we can usually work them into one route, but tell us at booking because extra stops change how early the vehicle needs to start.
The other common case is the split booking that should never have been split. Two saloons to Gatwick means paying £77 twice, two drivers, and two arrival times at the terminal. If one car meets traffic on the A264, half your group is checking in without the other half. One vehicle removes that problem entirely.
Minibus Pricing by Airport
Minibus fares are quoted individually rather than published as a fixed list, because passenger count and luggage volume change which vehicle is needed. Every quote is confirmed before you travel and does not change afterwards.
| Airport | Saloon (up to 4) | Minibus (6–8) |
|---|---|---|
| Gatwick (LGW) | £77 | Quoted at booking |
| Heathrow (LHR) | £110 | Quoted at booking |
| London City (LCY) | £115 | Quoted at booking |
| Stansted (STN) | £120 | Quoted at booking |
| Luton (LTN) | £150 | Quoted at booking |
Airport drop-off charges, from £7, are set and collected by each airport at the barrier and are separate from any fare quoted here.
Is a minibus cheaper than booking two taxis?
For most groups, yes. Two saloons to Gatwick means paying the £77 fare twice, while one minibus from Matfield Airport Taxis is a single quote for the whole group. It also keeps everyone together, so half the party is not stuck in traffic while the other half waits at the terminal.
Minibus Transfer Questions
Can I hire an 8-seater taxi to Gatwick Airport?
Yes. Matfield Airport Taxis runs 8-seater minibuses to Gatwick and to all four other London airports. The fare is quoted individually rather than fixed, because passenger numbers and luggage volume change the vehicle needed. Call 01892 308080 or WhatsApp 07741 041293 with your numbers.
How many people can travel in your minibus?
Six to eight passengers, with one case each plus hand luggage. If your group is larger than eight, or you are eight people with more than a case each, tell us at booking — that may need a second vehicle, and it is far better to establish that on the phone than on the driveway.
Do you quote one price for the whole group?
Yes. A minibus booking is a single fixed quote for the vehicle, not a per-person fare, and it is confirmed before you travel. It does not change afterwards for traffic, the time of day or a delayed landing, exactly like our published saloon fares.
Why is the minibus fare not published like the car fares?
Because it genuinely varies. A saloon to Gatwick is £77 whoever books it, but a group transfer depends on passenger count, luggage volume and which vehicle that requires. Publishing one number would mean either overcharging small groups or under-quoting large ones, so we quote each booking properly.
Can you collect a group from more than one address?
Usually yes, if the addresses are close together — within Matfield, or along the B2160 towards Brenchley and Kippings Cross. Tell us every pickup point when you book so the route and timings are built around them, because added stops change how early the vehicle needs to start.
Do you track flights for minibus bookings too?
Yes, exactly as with car transfers. Give us the flight number and we monitor it, then move the pickup so the driver arrives when you actually land. The quoted fare does not change because of a delay, and no waiting charge is added for one.
How much luggage can eight people bring?
Plan on one suitcase each plus hand luggage. Eight passengers with two large cases each will not fit, however the seats work out. Bulky items such as golf clubs, ski bags or a pushchair also take the space of a case, so count them in when you tell us the load.
Do you charge extra for early morning group transfers?
No. The quoted fare is the same whatever the hour — no night rate, no out-of-hours premium, no weekend surcharge. This matters for groups in particular, because a single flight often means one very early pickup for eight people rather than several staggered ones.
How far in advance should a group book?
Earlier than a single car. There are fewer minibuses than saloons, so group vehicles are the first thing to become unavailable at peak times and for pre-dawn departures. If you have a flight date, book it — the quote is confirmed at the time and does not change afterwards.
Can the minibus collect us from the airport on the way back?
Yes, and it is worth booking both legs together. Your driver meets the group inside the terminal rather than in a car park, which is considerably easier with eight people and eight cases than trying to find each other outside. The return is quoted at the same time as the outbound.
Is a minibus better than the train for a group from Matfield?
Almost always. For one person the train from Paddock Wood is a fair option, but eight people means two cars parked for the trip, eight tickets, and a change with luggage. One vehicle door to door removes all of that, and the quote covers the group rather than each head.
